Travel Hockey Programs to Merge with the Potomac Patriots for 2015-2016 Season

Beginning in the 2015-2016 Fall/Winter Hockey Season, Prince William Hockey Club operations will merge with the Potomac Patriots Youth Hockey Club. The Patriots will continue to offer Travel youth hockey programs for all ages at the Prince William Ice Center.  The Patriots will utilize many of the same Prince William Hockey Club coaches and staff members and uphold the same pride and values in the players who came up through the Prince William Hockey Club program over the past several years.  The Patriots mission also remains the same:  to create a “cradle to college” hockey experience, in which players can develop, advance and pursue their hockey careers under one roof.

The Potomac Patriots will conduct tryouts for the 2015-2016 Travel Season during the first weekend of May.  For more information about the Potomac Patriots and the various youth hockey programs they offer, please visit: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/potomacpatriots/patriots-youth-programs.

Craig Laughlin and The Network Hockey Development Program

Exciting New Offering for Travel Skills and Goalie Clinics

The Prince William Hockey Club has partnered with the Network Hockey Development Program, led by former Washington Capitals star Craig Laughlin, to conduct challenging and enriching skills clinics for the Club's Travel players as well as all PWHC goalies for the 2014-2015 Fall/Winter hockey season.

The Network Hockey Development Program, based out of Laurel, Md., offers a variety of on-ice and off-ice programs to develop hockey players at all competition levels. NHDP's entire staff is packed with seasoned players and coaches with collegiate and professional hockey experience. Despite a grueling schedule as Comcast Sports Net's analyst for the Washington Capitals, Craig Laughlin will personally lead most of the clinics throughout the season.

This curriculum for training will be very intense and provide our players the opportunity to learn from a former NHL star. Craig and his staff will work with our player's mental and physical toughness, to help them compete harder. This program will help distinguish the Prince William Hockey Club as one of the best in the area for youth hockey development.

-All NHDP clinics will be held on Monday Evenings at the Prince William Ice Center

-All Travel Teams will have a 50 minute on-ice skills and a 30 minute video/chalk talk training session on alternating weeks

-Goalie Clinics will be 50 minutes on-ice plus a 30 minute off-ice session on alternating weeks for age specific training Mite/Squirt/Pee Wee one week and Bantam/Midget the following week

-Goalie Clinics will be open to currently rostered Travel and House goalies, any other attendees must have approval of their respective Program Director

PWHC Creates and Initiates Club-wide Concussion Policy & Training

With the recent media attention and better understanding of concussions in sports, the board of directors saw the need to create and address a concussion policy within our own club to protect the players and the coaches.

The goal of this was to not only educate the coaches, but the players and parents as well.  While the training listed in the policy is mandatory for the coaches in house, inline, and travel, PWHC strongly encourages all families to review the information provided by the CDC.

PWHC Travel Program Discipline Policy Regarding Abusive Behavior

The Prince William Hockey Club does not condone any acts of abusive behavior by its members towards officials, coaches, players, or spectators. All members have signed the Code of Conduct in accordance with PWHC’s Operational Guidelines and will be held accountable for their actions.  For full policy details, click on the link below.
