Prince William Hockey Club offers competitive hockey at the Tier II level. We participate in the CBHL (Chesapeake Bay Hockey League) and generally travel to rinks in Virginia, Maryland and DC for our league games. Most travel teams also participate in several tournaments throughout the season.
It is our goal to provide a fun, competitive environment where young hockey players can gain the skills and experience they need to continue playing year after year. Some of PWHC's alumni choose to play college or junior hockey as well.
The Prince William Hockey Club’s has established a Summer Mite program that will get players ready to participate in the upcoming Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) 2014-2015 Travel season. There are two components to the Prince William Hockey Summer Mite Program:
CBHL SUMMER MITES:
The intent of the CBHL Summer Mite program is to provide players who want to improve their skills and try out for the CBHL Fall Travel Mites the same resources that the older Travel players are provided. Through both on and off-ice training sessions throughout the summer, this program will provide the CBHL Summer Mites the tools to succeed BEFORE setting the rosters for the CBHL Fall Travel Mite teams at tryouts in September.
Beginning the end of June, the Prince William Hockey Club will conduct an 8-week on ice and off ice skills development session. These sessions will consist of one 90 minute on-ice skills session per week, and one 60 minute off-ice development session per week. The off-ice development session will be led by the San Jose Sharks strength and conditioning coach Ken Hetzel. The CBHL Summer Mites program will end with them competing in a Labor Day tournament. PWHC is planning to participate in the Hershey Junior Bears Labor Day Tournament, August 30th – September 1st in Hershey PA.
CBHL FALL MITE SEASON:
The Prince William Hockey Club will conduct Fall Mite tryouts for up to three 2014-2015 CBHL Travel Mite teams. Tryouts will be conducted at PWIC on September 13th and 14th. These CBHL Fall Mite teams will participate in a 16 game CBHL season plus 2 to 3 tournaments. Players selected for the CBHL Mite teams will also be registered for the Prince William Hockey Club’s House Mite program. CBHL Fall Mites will receive an additional 90 minute on-ice practice per week, in addition to the two 80-minute weekend ice slots they’ll receive in the House program, for a total of more than four hours of on-ice instruction, per week. CBHL games and house ice slots will not conflict.

With the recent media attention and better understanding of concussions in sports, the board of directors saw the need to create and address a concussion policy within our own club to protect the players and the coaches.
The goal of this was to not only educate the coaches, but the players and parents as well. While the training listed in the policy is mandatory for the coaches in house, inline, and travel, PWHC strongly encourages all families to review the information provided by the CDC.
The Prince William Hockey Club does not condone any acts of abusive behavior by its members towards officials, coaches, players, or spectators. All members have signed the Code of Conduct in accordance with PWHC’s Operational Guidelines and will be held accountable for their actions. For full policy details, click on the link below.
