Prince William Hockey Club Panthers

The Prince William Hockey Club (PWHC) is a nonprofit youth sports organization working to develop and grow youth ice and in-line hockey programs at all age levels. Our hockey programs are very competitive and our coaches are some of the most committed in the area.

The Mission of the PWHC is to provide a quality hockey experience for our members. Glory Days Grill Dining for Dollars

Glory Days Grill, the official food sponsor of the Prince William Hockey Club, is offering their Dining for Dollars fundraising program to the club.  Simply dine at ANY Glory Days location and Glory Days Grill will donate 10% of your food and beverage bill to the Prince William Hockey Club!  For more information about this program, click HERE.  


Elite Offense and Defensemen Development Camps

***THE OFFENSE CAMP IS FULL.  THREE SPACES REMAIN FOR THE DEFENSEMEN CAMP***

Potomac Patriots Coaches Adam Shiring and Kevin Schreiber are hosting two Elite Development Camps for rising Bantams to U18 Midgets.  The Offense Camp runs April 21-24th. The Defensemen Camp runs April 28-May 1st, both are at the Prince William Ice Center.

Camp Schedule:

On Ice – 6:10pm to 7:30pm

Dry land – 7:45pm to 8:30pm

The purpose of these camps is to develop Offense and Defensemen playing habits, teach in-game concepts, and improve skills. It is designed for players who want to compete and excel at the travel hockey level (B-AA and above). These camps each feature more than FIVE HOURS of on-ice instruction and two-hours of dry land in four days.

Offensive on Ice teaching points:

  1. Offensive Zone Entry strategies
  2. Offensive Zone Strategies: finding soft areas, creating 2 on 1 situations, cycling
  3. Neutral Zone
  4. Defensive Zone coverage for forwards
  5. Breakout techniques
  6. Skill development: Shooting, passing and receiving passes

Defensive on Ice teaching points:

  1. Gap Control for the entire ice
  2. Defensive Zone Strategies: Starting breakouts, supporting partner, net front coverage, activating in breakouts
  3. Neutral Zone strategies: Regroups, support, decision making
  4. Offensive Zone Strategies: walking the blue line, pinches and decision making, activating offensively
  5. Reading and reacting to game situations in all zones
  6. Defending rushes (1v1, 2v1, 2v2, 3v2)
  7. Skill development: Shooting, passing and receiving passes

Dry land teaching points:

  1. Developing agility, quickness, and transitional speed
  2. All dry land drills are designed for players to be able to do at home (no weights or work out sets required)

Prince William Ice Center Hosts the Spring 2014 CCM Freakishly Fast Showdown

The Prince William Ice Center will host the Spring 2014 CCM Freakishly Fast Showdown tournament May 9-11, 2014.   Teams in the U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 (LA/UA/AA) divisions are invited to participate.  There is a 3 game minimum, and CCM will provide game MVP Prizes.  For more information, or to register, contact RJ Zeigler at rzeigler@pwice.com or view the flyer below.

Last night, Prince William Hockey Club officials announced their 2013-2014 Annual Award winners. Congratulations to this year's winners:

Thank You for Supporting Hockey Fights Cancer!

Once again the Prince William Hockey Club is participating in Hockey Fights Cancer, an initiative of the NHL and supported by USA Hockey, during the month of October.  100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. All teams in the Prince William Hockey Club (House and Travel) are encouraged to help raise money for a cure.  

The club again is making Paypal available for this endeavor.  Any donation that is made, please reference the player's name and coach so proper credit can be given.

The Potomac Prospects

The Potomac Prospects is a joint effort between the Prince William Hockey Club, The Potomac Patriots and the Prince William Ice Center.  The goal of the Potomac Prospects program is to offer a year-round, highly-competitive, developmental hockey program for players who may be interested in one day playing junior hockey or beyond.  


Panthers Take Over the Verizon Center

Prince William Hockey Club Panther House Pee Wees took to the Ice at the Verizon Center before the Washington Capitals/Columbus Blue Jackets game on Oct. 19, 2013.

Several times each season, players from the Prince William Hockey Club travel to the Verizon Center to particpiate in Washington Capitals game-day events to include holding the Capital's flags as the team enters the ice or conducting a Mites on Ice game during inermissions.

The Club has a dedicated Coaches section of the website as noted on the menu to the left on this page. Tons of information is posted there regarding Monthly Coaches Meetings, USA/PVAHA/CBHL guidelines and policies, ADM and practice plan resources, USAH CEP details.  Check it out as a training tool. The Club also has a pool of experienced coaches available to provide advice as well as additional support and resources to aid in your development.Take advantage of these opportunities for the benefit of your teams
