By Coach J

In a rare midweek match up, the Panthers took on George Mason University. The Patriots came into PWIC sporting a 7-6-0 record, including 4-4-0 in BRHC action. The game was a high flying affair with stellar goaltending from both teams. Neither team could dent the twine for two periods despite 32 combined shots. In the final period, GMU took the lead on a redirect from the high slot. PW continued to grind it out, pressuring the Patriots defense looking for the equalizer. The Panthers came through on a power play with five minutes left in the contest to knot the score at 1-1. A goal mouth scramble resulted in Mason scoring the winning goal off a rebound with only 44 seconds remaining in the game.

The Panthers played a great game and kept pace with their collegiate opponents. The 18's have dropped four games in a row in their toughest stretch of the season. Ukraine, Easton (1st place CBHL), Howard 18 AA, and GMU provided excellent competition, with three of the games being very close and the other a one goal defict heading into the final period. The Panthers will look to resume their winning ways this weekend with League contests against Reston and Howard
