PWHC Squirt B - Seconds Again

     The Squirt B Panthers participated in the "Chilled Ponds" Presidents' Day weekend tournament in Chesapeake, Va., 15-17 February. The Panthers were placed in a combined division with lower A and B teams from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

     On Friday 15 February, our Panthers defeated the Cape Fear Fire Ants 3-0. Goalie Jake Frankel with the shutout in net.

      Saturday, 16 February, the boys faced a tough Capital City Viper team (A Team) from Harrisburg, Pa.. After a hard fought battle, we skated off with an 8-4 loss. Later that day, we lost a close game against the Blue Ridge Bears.

     Sunday, 17 February, saw one of the more exciting games of the year, as we played Hampton Whalers (A Team). Defenseman and Caveman Trenton Samuels, carried the puck up ice and through nearly the entire Whaler team, before scoring the tying goal at the close of the third period. In the shootout, and after seven shooters from each team, Ryan Reynders found the top right corner with a quick wrist shot. Marky Ensign and Jake Frankel were solid in the net the entire game. This victory earned the Panthers a place in the Championship game.

     During the Championship game, the Panthers again faced the Capital City Vipers (A Team). After actually leading the game 3-2, our boys were unable to stop the Vipers.

     This is the second tournament for the Squirt B team and also the second time they've finished second.
