2010 Candidates for the Executive Board

Lyne McCauley

I have been a member of the PWHC for 13 years. Throughout these years I have assumed the positions of assistant and head coach in all age group in our house program. This year I accepted the role of head coaching a squirt travel team. I also maintain every year my certification as a level 3 USA hockey official. I have experience in managing an adult team. I have served 3 years on the PWHC Executive Committee as their executive secretary. I have organized many of the club's open house promotional events. I presently manage the club's Panther Buddy program which encourages motivated PWHC players to volunteer their own time back to the club. As a side kick, I exercise my creativity by maintaining the PWHC bulletin board at PW Ice Center. I wish to pursue another term as the executive secretary and provide insight in the development of our hockey players while suggesting creative ways to support the new USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM) and most importantly providing our young the opportunities for life lessons.

Dave Abbott

A lot of time and thought went into my decision to run for office. First and foremost I want to be able to speak for the children and families that make up Prince William Hockey Club, Inline, House and Travel. Second, I would like to help regroup and strengthen PWHC after the winter we have had with the temporary loss of our rink. Third, I truly care about PWHC, the children and the ideals and lessons it teaches our children. Not just good hockey players, but good people have been raised through PWHC. I am not into “politics” when it comes to a position like this; My concern is that every kid that wants to play hockey at any level has that ability and is provided that chance. I have listed below a little bit about myself.

Hockey Related:

  • -I have been with the Prince William Hockey Club since it started back in 1996.
  • -In the late 90's assisted in youth hockey camps for both the club and the rink.
  • -Hockey Camp counselor for HMI in Boston, St. Paul, Chicago from 1995-2000.
  • -I have coached multiple years at the House Level and also at the Travel Level, always as a head coach.
  • -Head Coach for Osbourn Park's middle school team for their inaugural season and the year after as well.
  • -I am currently a USA Hockey Level 5 certified having attended the National Coaching Symposium in Minnesota this past August, 2009.

Non-hockey:

  • -Employed with the Manassas City Police Department for last 9 years and last 3 as a Senior Detective
  • -Special Deputy with the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Taskforce
  • -Live in Loudoun County
  • -Make a pretty good apple pie
Thank you for your time and consideration!

Althea Loschinskey

My name is Althea Loschinskey. I have been a part of the Prince William Hockey Club for 2 seasons now and I want to stand up for the club as Vice President because I want to see the club succeed and grow. I am 40 years old, I am married, I have 2 sons currently playing hockey in our club, I am a military veteran and work now as a Project Officer for the Marine Corps. I plan to leverage years of experience in athletic competition, coaching, military leadership, civil service and program management to work for the club and its interests. I enjoyed watching my sons participate in youth hockey over the last 4 years, I have many more years experience as an athlete and coach, and I understand the organizational endeavor and pursuit of competition in athletics; moreover, I am not coaching in the club, so my objectivity and availability will be paramount factors in my contributions to the club.

Despite the challenges we are facing this year, the club will grow and learn new ways to achieve its mission to provide a quality hockey experience for its members. As a parent, and a former coach and athlete, I am passionate about the quality of the sporting experience for our youngsters. I believe hockey provides incredible opportunities to experience competition, develop physical skills and mental toughness, enjoy camaraderie, teamwork, and respect ... all attribute to skills necessary to succeed in life. Our young players are learning how improve their skills, how to realize success and how to deal with disappointment, and I believe that learning to practice good sportsmanship despite wins and losses will help our youngsters become confident, responsible and successful adults.

As Vice President it will be my goal to collaborate with fellow board members to execute the club's business in a mature and logical manner, to bridge strong relationships across our club's programs, and to promote good sportsmanship throughout the club. In my time as a coach and as an active duty military officer, I led hundreds of young men and women and have seen them make mistakes. I am prepared to handle the duties of the position of Vice President, and I am eager to work to ensure that our club continues to be recognized as an organization that promotes good sportsmanship and respectful conduct from the youngest player to our most senior coach (and our proudest spectators). Despite the temporary setback with our home rink, the CBHL and the entire east coast should know that we are a sporting club in earnest and that we enjoy hockey.
